You take notice when Mugen calls a car "Ultimate." The tuner and racing outfit has a long history with Honda -- from preparing Formula 1 cars to offering grassroots support -- and more recently, has announced the Civic Type R Mugen.
Available in Europe in a production run of 20, the Type R Mugen, which costs £38,599 ($64,000), is a hand-built performance machine that puts the company's extensive experience to use. Plop down the cash for this hatch and you get direct contact with Mugen's engineers as they build your car. You can spec your Civic Type R Mugen as you see fit; the engineers will even map the ECU to match your driving style.
Starting with a three-door Civic Type R hatchback, Mugen adds new camshafts and high-compression pistons, a remapped ECU, stainless steel exhaust, and an upgraded intake. Horsepower rises to 237, and Mugen claims a 10% boost in torque throughout the rev range.
A limited-slip differential doles out power to the forged wheels, which weigh 17 lbs. Four-piston monoblock brake calipers perform stopping duties, and the car rides on a "completely revised" suspension with bespoke springs and dampers. Mugen claims to have traveled near 1400 miles while tuning the suspension. Aesthetic additions include a new rear wing, fascia, and rear diffuser, and a grille with the Mugen emblem. Prospective buyers can choose any color they wish, so long as it's Championship White.
Also available is a Track Pack option that offers Recaro front seats, deletion of the rear seat, water and oil temperature gauges, data recording equipment, and stickier tires.

What a Redic Price of a Civic Type R.. Its sick idea is awesome that Mugen Civics are gonna be as much of an option as a Reg Type R but 64k can get a number of fun cars to drive.
